My Top 10 Favorite Podcasts for Women Empowerment

August 15, 2019 in Confidence, Happiness, Anxiety and Depression, The Tough Stuff - 11 min read
When I find someone online who I connect with on an emotionally and/or mentally level, one of the first questions I ask is “do they have a podcast!?” I don’t know about you but I love finding women who are doing the damn thing! It’s so inspiring and motivates me to keeps going. Within the last few months, I have fallen in love with podcasts made by women, for women. I love listening to them because they are so convenient and personable. You can listen to them on the go and get your whole life! Sometimes I catch myself screaming “yes!,” laughing, making mental notes and even tearing up when something hits home.

We are in the stage of using technology to build personal relationships with people we haven’t even physically met before. By them sharing their stories through written, video or audio content, we see their personalities, find out their values and decide if it relates to us. If it doesn’t, that’s fine and we continue to find that person but if it does, we follow them and hop on the journey with them because we want to know more.
I fell in love with women empowerment podcasts while I was trying to find tribes to join since starting my entrepreneurship journey with She 3.0 in January of this year. Every content creator and entrepreneur has a tribe, or community of people who share the same interests as them but it took some time for me to find ones that really resonates. Since I am all about women empowerment, I’ve found a few women who are killing it in their fields and are consistently producing content on social media, their websites and podcast episodes that will benefit their tribe and world as a whole. I’m currently working on having that level of impact myself with She 3.0 so I’m always listening in. I wanted to share these amazing women and their podcasts with you in hopes that at least one finds and inspires you.
In no particular order…..

Sophia Amoruso, the girl boss herself features fellow girl bosses on her podcast to talk about their journeries. If you watched the Netflix TV Series about her story, you’ll know it was far from perfect but through starting Nasty Gal to surviving it to rebranding Girlboss to her annual Girlboss Rallies to recently launching her very own professional network (think women version of LinkedIn) at https://www.girlboss.com/, she has proven that she is the O.G.B. (Original Girlboss).

If you read my post about going to therapy and mental illness awareness, you’ll know how hushed up they have always been within communities of color. That’s why I love this podcast so much. Joy Harden Bradford, Ph. D is peeling back the layers so we can get to the source of this void that is long overdue to be filled. It’s vulnerable, relatable and empowering at the same time.
